GVB to hold #Instagram Travel Talks digital summit

According to former GVB public information officer Josh Tyquiengco, the summit will feature various global social media influencers.

In 2018, 44 percent of tourists booked their travels to the island online. To take advantage of this trend, the Guam Visitors Bureau will hold a digital summit to discuss concepts that are changing the tourism industry.

As more and more tourists post about their latest vacation destination, restaurant reviews, or impressions about a workshop they recently attended, new experiences become something worth investing in.

In order to discuss the effects of this trend on the tourism industry, the Guam Visitors Bureau will be holding the #Instagram Travel Talks, a global digital summit that will attract tourism companies, technology organizations, and social media influencers from all over.

According to former GVB public information officer Josh Tyquiengco, this summit will feature Sam Kolder, a global social media influencer who has traveled the world.

“Sam Kolder has traveled around the world and he’s made a living just experiencing life and doing different things and people really lean towards that. So he’s one of the many people who are part of this experience that we want Guam to learn from and take advantage of his knowledge and experience. And that’s why this travel technology conference is important because it showcases what people are doing around the world and how Guam can be a part of that and be a part of that story,” Tyquiengco said.

In addition, local content creators such as content creator Jeriza Torres and activist Franceska De Oro as well as international figures will be featured at the conference.

Representatives from organizations such as AirBnB and Trip Advisor will also attend and discuss trends affecting the tourism industry.

According to Tyquiengco, he hopes that those who attend this conference walk away with the confidence and knowledge to enhance their businesses or grow as creators.

“If we share one message in different content surrounded by that – especially for our love for Guam – the experience will be more authentic and real. And people will want to come to Guam. You have all these people who show their love for it in many different ways, whether it’s through photos, through videos, or just speaking at events. I think knowledge is power and this is definitely a powerful conference for those wanting to grow,” Tyquiengco said.

The summit will take place on Aug. 14 at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort. For registration details, visit guamtraveltalks.com
