GWA: Water Service Restored to Lower Elevations of Merizo; Higher Elevations by This Evening

Guam – The Guam Waterworks Authority has made better progress than expected on getting a water main break in Merizo fixed.

This morning an emergency water outage was declared in the Village because a water line that broke yesterday [Thursday] and was repaired, broke again.

The outage forced the cancellation of school at Merizo Elementary today.

The initial estimate for completing repairs was expected to be about 8 pm tonight.

But GWA Spokesperson Heidi Ballendorf says the break had been fixed as of 4 pm this afternoon.

Water service to the lower parts of the village have already been restored, but higher elevations of Merizo probably won’t have water service until  6 or 7 pm tonight.
