Guam – The Guam Waterworks Authority is inspecting sewer lines and the utility is advising residents that there will be partial lane closures for parts of Adelup and Asan for the next month.

Independent contractor HDR, Inc. will be conducting sewer line inspections across multiple areas in Agana and Asan. GWA spokesperson Heidi Ballendorf says the work will cause partial lane closure from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for the next four weeks. Ballendorf says both northbound and southbound lanes will be affected. Ballendorf says GWA is under a court order to inspect Guam’s vast network of sewer lines.

“We have 450 miles of sewer lines, we just found some, and so we need to keep inspecting sewer lines. It’s a very important project for maintaining our sewer lines [and] ensuring that we don’t have issues come up like we have in the past,” said Ballendorf.

Meanwhile, the Guam Waterworks Authority today held a special bond signing ceremony, where they officially signed bond documents that will be used to help fund capital improvement projects and further move the water authority into compliance with US EPA regulations.
