Guam – GWA announces it will be issuing to Younex a building permit required for the first Phase of the Ukudo Workforce Housing Project in Two Lovers Point.
GWA Acting GM, John Benavente said “Younex will be required to provide water production equivalent to what they consume, which amounts to about $2 Million gallons of water daily at a cost of about $12 Million dollars to them.” He went on to say, “This new development will not impact GWA’s current water system but only add to it. “Furthermore, Younex’s has agreed to construct new tanks and off site facilities, which will eventually be turned over to GWA”, Benavente said. “This building
permit will be awarded in phases, and over time on an as needed basis beginning with 500 units, then 1500, 2000, 4000, and finally 6000 units will be permitted”, he added. “Final permits of course require DPW approval, but GWA has now provided the framework and conditions by which we can sign off on the approval portion of the process”.
Benavente noted. “Finally, we would like to thank the Younex team for working cooperatively with GWA to accomplish this important project for the community. Their investment will go a long way to ensure that existing ratepayers services will not be impacted.” For more information on this or other GWA issues contact GWA Director of Communications, Heidi Ballendorf at 647-2603.
