The Guam War Survivors Memorial Foundation (GWSMF) presents Sentimental Journey 4: Guam Songs Remembered, in commemoration of the 76th Liberation of Guam.
“Sentimental Journey 4 is a production combining digitally remastered segments of a 1994
musical documentary entitled “Guam’s History in Songs” with the work of the Foundation over the past years to honor our World War II survivors,” said Frank F. Blas, Jr., founder and President of the GWSMF.
GWSMF Vice President Monica Okada Guzman further added, “ ‘Guam’s History in Songs’
was produced in conjunction with 50 th Liberation anniversary and we feel that in the spirit of this year’s theme of reflect, recognize, and remember, a musical project such as this was fitting for the commemoration. We didn’t want the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic to curtail the honor due to our survivors, and through our project partnership, we were able to create this continuing tribute.”
Blas lastly stated, “the Foundation especially thanks Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio for his encouragement and invaluable assistance in making this possible. Our survivors went through a lot, our island is going through a lot, and seeing how music, our faith in God, and our belief that we can overcome has gotten us through the worst in times will help us to better times ahead.”
“Sentimental 4: Guam Songs Remembered” will be televised at various times starting
Wednesday, July 29, through Friday, July 31, on PBS Guam Channel 12 The one-hour documentary will also be added to the Guam War Survivors Memorial Foundation FaceBook site and website, www.guamwarsurvivorstory.com.
