Guam – Everyone can take a role in the prevention of child sexual abuse; that was the message from Healing Hearts Crisis Center Program Director Maresa Aguon at today’s Rotary Club Of Tumon Bay meeting.
Aguon spoke about increasing awareness amongst children, parents and teachers on the issues surrounding the sexual abuse of children. She also discussed the new task force legislated under Vice Speaker BJ Cruz to recommend policies to address and prevent the sexual abuse of children.
According to Aguon Healing Hearts offers an array of services to survivors of all types of sexual abuse including connecting victims to counseling and legal services.
“We link them to counseling to help them work through some issues that might arise as a result of the trauma,” Aguon said while describing the array of services Healing Hearts offers to survivors of all types of sexual abuse. “We are also to do a medical evaluation, forensic investigation to collect evidence for trial and are also able to do forensic interviews as well.”
