Janela Carrera takes a tour of Resorts World Manila and meets … Manny Pacquiao?
Manila, Philippines – Last week I was invited to join a familiarization tour to Resorts World Manila, as part of a new partnership made between RWM, Philippine Airlines and IT&E. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to learn more about what makes travel to the Philippines.
With its proximity to Guam, Philippines has become a popular destination for Guam residents for various reasons, from medical tourism, business, visiting family to pure travel. But with the recent boom in the gaming industry, there’s yet another reason you’ll want to keep coming back.
It’s the integrated resorts aspect. Director for Resorts World Manila Corporate Communications Owen Cammayo explains.
“So integrated resorts. Meaning everything’s there. There’s hotel, F and B, entertainment, retail and of course gaming. That’s essentially the five key aspects of an integrated resort. Of course, there are other intangibles, like excellent service,” Cammayo says.
And the service is impeccable. I, along with others on the familiarization tour, stayed at Maxims Hotel. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a butler. To check in, you are ushered into a separate floor, away from the bustle of the ground floor entrance. Every guest waiting to check in is provided with a complimentary drink and a hot towel by an attendant who seems to appear out of thin air.
Cammayo says it’s an experience you can’t get anywhere else. He adds that it’s an experience for the whole family.
“We’re not purely a gaming company or a casino as you might say. We are an integrated resort so there’s a lot of things for a lot of people … we are a cruise ship on land,” describes Cammayo.
In fact, Resorts World has the distinction of revolutionizing the integrated resorts industry in the Philippines. Prior to 2009, none existed. Now, other huge corporations have caught on.
“That’s what entertainment city is all about,” says Cammayo, referring to reclaimed land, “four integrated resorts in one location.”
Resorts World has it all. A membership card that rewards you with free hotel stays and dining, three different hotel properties, a shopping mall, movie theater, dozens of world class restaurants and a broadway-styled theater. Oh, and did I mention that Manny Pacquiao is a regular here too? Click on the video link to find out more.
