Guam – Gov. Eddie Calvo presented a flag of Guam to the dancers of “Season 5” and “District 671” to take with them to the World Hip Hop Dance Championships in Las Vegas next month.
The crews are part of Step Up Entertainment and Dance Studio. Bobby Zamora, owner of the studio, helped coordinate the groups’ participation.
He said as of this afternoon, there were more than 280 dance crews representing almost 50 countries are participating. Zamora said they’ve been training for six months.
Gov. Calvo encouraged the dancers to enjoy the competition and to learn as much as they can from that experience. The governor said he’s confident the crews will let the world know that Guam, although a small island, has many talented people able to compete at a global level. Before they left, they shared their “war chant” with the governor.
