The company says they do not use glass during the manufacture of baby wipes. They have not issued a recall at this time.
Guam – Huggies brand posted a statement on their Facebook page in light of several complaints that were made in the last 24 hours, including reports from Guam, about glass shards that were found in packages of baby wipes. The company says glass is not used during the manufacture of baby wipes.
“Families put their trust in Huggies wipes ever day, and all of our Huggies products have been thoroughly evaluated to ensure they are safe. In addition, we have stringent quality controls in place, and no glass is used during the manufacture of our wipes,” the statement read.
Yesterday, Kmart Guam pulled the Huggies two-pack refillable wipes after they received a complaint from a parent who purchased the baby wipes from their store. Kmart HR Coodinator Daisy Lee told PNC that they would consult with the manufacturer and the local distributor of Huggies about the complaint before putting the wipes back on store shelves.
Huggies has not issued a recall at this time.
Reports have been filling in over the last 24 hours as parents across the US have been reporting similar findings in packages of baby wipes. Some also posted YouTube videos of the baby wipes showing what appear to be tiny shiny objects in the wipes.
Below is the full statement from Huggies as posted on their Facebook page with instructions on how to contact the company with any complaints.
“Thank you all for your continued patience as we work to respond to everyone expressing their concerns and asking questions. Some of you have commented about the shiny particles seen in our wipes. While this condition is not normal, it does happen infrequently during the manufacturing process. When combined, the fibers in our wipes have on occasion created shiny particles, similar to what was found by this parent.
