Hundreds of volunteers on Saturday picked up trash, cut grass, and removed algae as part of the Island Pride Beautification Event.
Community groups and individuals were assigned to different parts of the island to clean up highly frequented parks, beaches, and streets. The event was organized by the Island Beautification Task Force, which is chaired by Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio.

The event was originally planned for late June, but a spike in COVID-19 cases postponed it.
Tenorio said that the event was organized to help the island prepare to return back to normal and refresh the island as Guam recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
