Guam – The demolition of the old JFK High School in Upper Tumon is finally about to get underway.
The last hurdle was cleared this morning [Wednesday] when the Department of Public Works finally issued the Notice to Proceed to IBC.
Groundbreaking for the new school occurred on September 2ed, but then the Department of Interior had to sign off on the project and IBC’s construction permits had to be reviewed and approved.
This morning, DPW Director Andy Leon Guerrero said everything is in order and IBC has been given the go-ahead. Leon Guerrero said that IBC has told him they expect to get down to the serious work of demolition by Friday.
After the demolition is completed, construction on the new JFK High School will begin. The new school is supposed to be ready for occupancy by next August, before the start of the next school year.
