Guam – (April 29) – The inaugural meeting of the FOIA Council will be held tomorrow morning at the Guam Legislature.
Senator Rory J. Respicio authored Legislative Rules Resolution 330-32(COR), which established the Guam Legislative Freedom of Information Advisory Council to encourage and facilitate compliance with the Freedom of Information Act.
Members will hold their first meeting tomorrow at 10am at the Public Hearing room. The Council will address the first complaint they have received, which was filed by Dr. Ron McNinch.
The Council is also tasked with identifying which government of Guam agencies are not in compliance with the Freedom of Information Act and the Open Government Law and they will issue advisories and opinions. The Council also will provide public training on the local Sunshine laws and will publish documents and guidelines as needed. Members will also review all local Sunshine laws and make suggestions for changes in legislation to make our government more open and transparent to the people of Guam.
Members of the Council include: Senator Rory J. Respicio, Senator Anthony Ada, Senator Tom Ada, Attorney General of Guam, Rindraty Limtiaco, Jayne Flores, Maureen Maratita, Sophia Santos Diaz, Barry Mead and Jeffery Thomas Marchesseault.
