The leadership at the Iglesia Ni Cristo is assuring the community that INC has initiated measures to comply with government directives in light of the COVID-19 outbreak on Guam.
Noel S. Gasmen, the District Minister of Micronesia, says the INC leadership has been proactive across the region and issued a directive banning social gatherings immediately among church-goers on Guam.
The Church has four locales on Guam: Harmon, Yigo, Mangilao, and Apra Heights.
“We can assure the public that the Church of Christ — Iglesia Ni Cristo — is always one with whatever is implemented by the government. When the government made the decision or made an announcement that there should be no more gatherings, immediately we mobilized our officers in the Church to inform the brethren that we need to follow,” Gasmen said.
He added: “That’s why before the implementation, even days before the implementation of that directive, we were already informed. We made an announcement to all our members to stop all of our gatherings in the places of worship or in the chapel.”
Since issuing the directive from Church leadership, worship and other meetings are now done via video teleconferencing.
Gasmen says the Church directive also extends to other areas across Micronesia.
The Iglesia Ni Cristo has congregations in the Marshall Islands, FSM, Palau, and the CNMI.
