Guam – If the rainy events of outdoors’ past are any indication, all this blustery weather won’t dampen the appetites of hungry customers at the 6th annual Guam BBQ Block Party this weekend. The event is still set for Saturday July 7th. BBQ enthusiasts can expect to relish savory meats such as giant turkey legs, smoked spare ribs, grilled chicken and hot dogs.
Pleasure Island Tumon will be closed exclusively for those looking to indulge themselves over the weekend.
This GVB signature event showcases not only local culinary talent but the local hospitality that visitors to Guam are accustomed to.
Long lines are expected, but the good food’s worth the wait.
Free shuttle service will be provided. Just park your vehicle at Ypao Beach and catch a ride on the shuttle every 20 minutes.
The event will include a culinary showdown and hot dog eating contest. DFS T Galleria and The Plaza will be offering various promotions to those who may want to shop indoors, while escaping the rain or heat.
“You have the military here, you have the locals here, you have the tourists here, the businesses here, people selling their wares, not just food, you have a lot of different buy local vendors that are selling their products and services. And, it really makes it possible for this to sort of be the melting pot because the one thing again that’s universal on Guam no matter where you go, is the fiesta, and you’re always invited in. And the great food, no matter if you’re dealing with eggplant or finadene or meat and red rice, you’re going to find it at the Guam BBQ Block Party,” said Lt. Gov, Ray Tenorio.
The event opens at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 10:00 p.m. Admission is free and the event will feature live musical performances by local artists.
