Inetnon Gefpa’go Takes 3rd Place in Folkdance Festival in Istanbul, Turkey

Inetnon Gefpa’go competed against 23 countries from around the world at annual folkdance festival in Instanbul, Turkey. Spain took 1st place and the country of Georgia took 2nd place. 

Guam – The Inetnon Gefpa’go Cultural Arts Program took 3rd place at the 16th international Buyukcekmece Culture and Art Festival in Istanbul Turkey.

 

 

The cultural dance group from Guam led by Guam National Folkdance director and Master of Chamorro dance Vince Reyes competed against 23 other countries from around the world. Spain took first place and the country of Georgia took second place. The folkdance competition was judged by an international jury. There were thousands in attendance. The group is heading to the 32nd international folk festival “Caparti 2015” in Arges, Romania.

(AUGUST 10, 2015 – ISTANBUL, TURKEY) – The Inetnon Gefpå’go Cultural Arts Program is pleased to announce that out of 23 other countries from around the world, Guam placed third at the 16th International Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival in Istanbul, Turkey. A panel of international jury members assessed the folkdance competition with second place going to the country of Georgia and Spain taking the top spot. Thousands were present in the audience and on stage for the prestigious awards presentation. 


“This is truly a wonderful moment for our island and a testament that our Chamorro culture and heritage stand tall next to other great nations,” said National Folkdance Director and Master of Chamorro Dance Vince Reyes. “There aren’t enough words to express how truly magical this experience has been for us. We will continue to represent Guam as we move forward to the next competition in Europe. On behalf of Inetnon Gefpå’go, Un Dångkolo Na Si Yu’os Ma’åse to everyone back home for your continued support.” 



As part of their international tour, the group is scheduled to move on to the 32nd edition of the International Folk Festival “Caparti 2015” in Argeş, Romania.
