An inmate is currently on life support at Naval Hospital after he was found unresponsive in his cell at about 7:15 Wednesday night.

Acting prison director Frank Ishizaki told the Pacific News Center that it appears as if the inmate’s injury was self-inflicted but an investigation will have to be conducted to determine the exact cause.

The inmate was housed in the Special Housing Unit, a maximum security area.

DOC medical staff and Guam Fire Department emergency units responded according to a release issued by Major Antone Aguon.
