VIDEO: International Night Market on Track to Open October 18th in Tiyan

Guam- The opening date of the International Night Market in Tiyan has been set for October 18.

Mayors Council Executive Director Angel Sablan says the carnival grounds will be used four nights a week for the night market every Friday to Monday. He also says about 78 vendors are interested in using the Tiyan location to sell their products.

He notes site preparations will begin toward the end of this month. Sablan envisions the night market as a place to spend quality family time, exercise and provide more options to people. He believes it will add to the night life on Guam with different themes to be planned every month.

“This is not going to be a carnival,” said Sablan. “This is going to be a night market. We got the support of the governor. He said go for it. He’s going to ask GVB to support us and I think GVB is on board. They’re going to try to make the tourists come up that way. It’s going to be a shopping and dining experience for our people.”

Sablan mentions the International Night Market will also be a part of the liberation carnival next summer as Guam prepares to celebrate its 70th Liberation Day. In the meantime, the Mayors Council is still looking for vendors that make or sell local products. Anyone interested is asked to call (671) 477-6886.
