Palau – Aside from Guam, International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach also visited the National Olympic Committees in Palau and Papua New Guinea.
Palau President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. welcomed Bach and his group at the National Capitol.
According to the official IOC website, while in the island nation, Bach visited several sports facilities, met and talked to young athletes and a number of Olympic Solidarity scholarship-holders.
With Palau hosting the “Our Oceans” conference, Bach also reiterated the IOC’s commitment to sustainable development and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Remengesau also presented a certificate bestowing on Bach the honorary name of Palau’s bravest warrior.
The award recognizes Bach for his courage, commitment, and contributions to the youth and the people of Palau through sports and Olympic programs.
