The biggest event in local music history returns this coming Sunday, September 15th.
The Sorensen Media Group is hosting the 11th annual Island Music Awards, the only awards show to honor local entertainers in 13 different categories.
You can still vote for your favorite artist or band by logging on to guamima.com
Voting remains open until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday. SMG Vice President of Radio Operations Kyle Mandapat says to expect a night filled with performances to include 4 for 4, Friends with Instruments, Joe Guam, J Martin and other artists.
He also says the audience can look forward to appearances from their favorite on-air personalities and this year’s induction of island icon Dante Trinidad, the Chamorro music producer pioneer of legendary songs like Triste Yu.
Mandapat adds this is the only night to say thank you to all those musicians and entertainers that get people through the tough times.
“We’re super excited, like I said, you’re never going to get an opportunity to see this many performers on one stage. All of the money we are making is going to one great cause. Some of it is going to the Jon Anderson Foundation. We’re going to be working that out with the UOG Endowment Foundation as well. It’s just going to be a great night. A lot of fun and like I said, time to kick back and see your favorites all on stage together,” Mandapat said.
The Island Music Awards will be at the Lotte Hotel this coming Sunday. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 6:30 p.m. with tickets being sold at the door for $15 which comes with one free drink. Everyone is invited to attend.
