Islanders get insight of court hearing for 2023 Law Month

The students of John F. Kennedy High School in Tamuning had the opportunity on April 11 to experience what goes on during a court hearing as the Judiciary of Guam held a case as part of Guam’s 2023 Law Month celebration.

The case presented was People of Guam v. Juan Faisao Mendiola CRA22-002. Mendiola was found guilty of aggravated assault, manslaughter, and special allegations of possession or use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. According to PNC files, he was sentenced to 25 years behind bars by Superior Court of Guam Presiding Judge Alberto Lamorena in January 2022.

After the one-hour argument in the gymnasium, the Judiciary of Guam welcomed questions from students.
