In honor of Earth Month, the Islandwide Beautification Task Force, in partnership with the Guam Visitors Bureau, held the #GUAM Earth Month Beautification Cleanup earlier this morning.
About 1,000 volunteers showed up to help the task force pick up debris on roadways and beaches all over the island.
Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio, who is also head of the IBTF, says that the first and ultimate goal of the clean-up is get the island clean for residents.
He hopes this also inspires them to come together, take pride, and help with the environmental upkeep.
Tenorio adds that a part of this clean-up is also a recovery effort to show future visitors the beauty of Guam when the island reopens for tourism.
