Oz Young arrived in the world 42 seconds past midnight January 1, 2020, at Guam Memorial Hospital becoming the first-born American baby of the New Year.
Oz weighed in at 6 pounds and 15 ounces. He was delivered by Dr. Tom Shieh who reports that mother and child are healthy and doing just fine.
Oz and his proud parents Tammie and Kris Young were showered with more than $7,500 in gifts courtesy of the “I Love Guam New Year’s Baby” campaign, sponsored by Archway.
Among the gifts presented to the Young family was a year’s supply of Huggies from Ambros, a car seat from Atkins Kroll, a postpaid service from iConnect, and gasoline gift certificates from IP&E Shell.
Archway launched the program in 2005 and this is their 16th year sponsoring and organizing the event.
“Guam is where America’s first baby is born, and we decided to do something like this many years ago,” said Archway Vice President Mika Caldwell. “We just wanted to give back to the community.”
