There is some good news for the Guam tourism industry. Japan airlines has announced that it will increase flights to Guam in March of 2018.
Guam – According to GVB JAL will offer a second daily flight to Guam from Narita beginning on March 25th. GVB President and CEO Nathan Denight is quoted as saying “we were pleased by their announcement of a 2nd flight from Narita to Guam and would like to thank Japan Airlines for their continued confidence in our destination.” This announcement comes after GVB completed its largest ever familiarization tour which was dubbed a MEGAFAM tour. The tour was made up of nearly four hundred Japanese travel agents, media and social media influencers. The MEGAFAM tour began on November 30th and ended on December 3rd. It was comprised of a travel trade show a welcome fiesta and various optional tours and activities. The MEGFAM tour was timed to coincide with celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the first flight from Tokyo to Guam that brought 109 travel agents and media back in May of 1967. This MEGAFAM tour was held in response to a recent decline in Japanese visitors after North Korea made empty threats towards the United States and Guam.
