Work Leads Washington Delegation Arriving Thursday; Buildup, Programmatic Agreement on Agenda

Guam – Robert Work, Under Secretary of the Navy; Jackalyne Pfannenstiel, Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Energy, Installations & Environment); Dr. Dorothy Robyn, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Installations & Environment); BGen Robert Ruark, Assistant Deputy Commandant of the Marine Corps (Installations & Logistics); and Bryan Wood, Director, Headquarters Marine Corps, Pacific Division Plans, Policies & Operations will travel to Guam on January 20 to discuss with Guam’s leaders the next steps for moving forward with the transition of forces from Okinawa to Guam.

“The Department of the Navy intends to be a good neighbor and partner with the people of Guam throughout the process,” said Under Secretary Work.

“These discussions are essential for making that happen.  We look forward to meeting with Governor Calvo, Lieutenant Governor Tenorio, and the Guam Legislature to discuss how we can resolve each other’s issues with the military buildup so our partnership can flourish as we invest in Guam’s future.”
