JIC Release No. 154

The Guam National Guard (GUNG) today, Monday June 1, began assisting returning Guam residents to their homes to undergo 14 days of quarantine, rather than to any of the GovGuam quarantine facilities.

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero Friday announced the revised quarantine regulations which are detailed in DPHSS Guidance Memo 2020-11.

The Guard was deployed to the Guam International Airport for this morning’s arriving flight and the Department of Public Works was called on to provide transportation for those unable to arrange to be picked-up.

The Guard also escorted about 100 local residents still in GovGuam quarantine hotel back to their homes for the remainder of their quarantine.

Arriving airline passengers who are just visiting Guam are still subject to 14 days quarantine in a GovGuam quarantine hotel.

DPHSS Guidance Memo 2020-11

The guidance memo allows for current, returning, and intended residents of Guam, as well as persons who are essential healthcare or other essential workers, or persons who traveled to Guam because f an emergency or personal hardship, to complete the 14-day quarantine requirement at their home home residence or rented lodging location.

2 new cases of COVID-19:

Guam Memorial Hospital confirms one person tested positive using the Polymerase Chain Reaction or PCR test which identifies the coronavirus itself.  That person had been in contact with 2 other household members who previously tested positive for the disease.

The other case was reported Saturday by Diagnostic Laboratory Services which used the serology method of testing which only detects the anti-bodies to the virus. It is considered a probable case.

To date, there have been 175 cases confirmed through COVID-19 testing provided with 5
deaths, 145 released from isolation, and 25 active cases.

As this is an evolving situation, information is subject to change with little to no notice.

COVID-19 test results are reported from multiple labs at varying times of the day. Cumulative test results will be provided this evening once all tests from today are finalized.
