JIC #193: Contract tracing links a COVID case to the AAFB cluster of 35

JIC #193

The Guam Department of Public Health has now linked one positive case of COVID-19 to the cluster of 35 Andersen AFB airmen who have tested positive for the disease during their stay at the Guam Reef Hotel in Tumon.

JIC #193 states – “One case was identified through community contact tracing of a recent cluster among service members deployed to Andersen Air Force Base.”

No further details about that case are provided.

Two other positive cases are reported in the latest release from the Joint Information Center.

An additional case of COVID-19 has been reported in a person currently staying in a government quarantine facility who recently returned from the Philippines.

The third case was reported by Diagnostic Laboratory Services. That person said they had no contact with any other confirmed cases.

To date, there have been a total of 225 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 5 deaths, 174 released from isolation, and 46 active cases.

Of those cases, 183 are classified as civilians, and 42 are military service members—35 of which have been recently identified among a unit deployed to Andersen Air Force Base (AFB).

As this is an evolving situation, information is subject to change with little to no notice.

COVID-19 test results are reported from multiple labs at varying times of the day.

The cumulative total from all labs will be reported on a nightly basis, unless unavailable.
