Guam – The Joint Information Center has issued the following release advising expectant mothers to report to the hospital this evening if they are at least 38 weeks pregnant.

Pregnant Mothers Asked to Report to Hospital After 6 p.m.
The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority is taking precautionary measures and will start accepting women who are at least thirty-eight (38) weeks pregnant and all high-risk pregnant mothers who are six (6) months and over. Pregnant mothers are asked to report to the Hospital after 6 p.m. tonight. Admitted mothers will remain in the Hospital for the duration of the storm until it is safe to return to your homes.
Pregnant mothers are asked to report to the Patient Registration Department on the first floor to register. Pregnant mothers are being asked to eat dinner before they report to the hospital. Meals will be provided when the Cafeteria opens in the morning. Sleepers will be provided to all pregnant mothers.
All pregnant mothers are asked to bring the following items for their comfort and convenience:
1. ID and insurance cards (insurance is not required for admittance)
2. Drinking water
3. Snack foods that do not need to be refrigerated or heated
4. Any necessary medications
5. Personal bedding: pillows, blankets, towels
6. Toiletries: soap, toothbrush, lotions
7. Extra clothes
8. Items to help pass time: reading materials or DVD movies
Escorts and children will not be able to stay with the pregnant mothers. No pets are allowed in the hospital.
Visiting Hours Suspended; Elective Surgeries Cancelled
Visiting hours are now suspended until further notice and elective surgeries are cancelled until Monday, October 21, 2013. We ask for the public’s understanding and cooperation.
