Guam – 23 year old Johnson Mathias has been arrested for attempted murder after he reportedly used a machete to hit another man on the head early Saturday morning. Mathias is also accused of being drunk at the time.
According to a release from GPD Spokesman Officer A.J. Balajadia, at 12:40 am Saturday, police responded to a reported disturbance in the parking lot of the Dededo Taco Bell.
Officer Balajadia says Mathias attacked the victim who was emptying trash outside the Taco Bell. Mathais reportedly hit the victim in the head twice, using a machete, “for reasons unknown,” states Balajadia’s release.
The victim “sustained severe injury to top of the head and the right temple area.” He required immediate attention and was rushed to Guam Memorial Hospital.
GMH Nursing Supervisor Celly Mongrobang says the incident did not happened this past Saturday, but the previous Saturday February 4th and that the injured man spent 2 days in the hospital before he was released. “The wounds did not go through his skull,” she said.
Mathias was booked and confined on the following charges:
Johnson Mathias, Male/Chuukese/23/Dededo, for Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession and Use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony, Assault, Criminal Mischief to a Vehicle, Disorderly Conduct, Public Drunkenness and resisting arrest.
