Guam – 25 year old Joseph Joaquin Palomo was charged in Superior Court Friday with auto theft as a felony as well as misdemeanor theft because he was in possession of a credit card that belonged to the victim in last Tuesday’s church purse snatching.
According to the Magistrate’s complaint, Palomo is accused of breaking into a Toto home in the early morning of April 19, taking the keys to the home owner’s Suzuki Gran Vitara and driving it away.
Then last Wednesday morning, May 8th, about 6:18am, Officers doing a vehicle check in the parking lot of the Tamuning Plaza Hotel found the Zuzuki and later learned that it was being driven by Palomo.
When they found Palaomo, they not only found that he had the keys to the Toto victim’s Gran Vitara, they also found him in possession of a credit card belonging to a woman who had reported her purse was stolen the previous day, May 7th, while she was sitting inside the Santa Barbara Church in Dededo.
Palomo was charged with felony Burglary for breaking into the home and stealing the keys.
The second charge was felony Theft of Property for taking the Susuki.
The third charge is Theft of Property as a misdemeanor for possession of the credit card belonging to the church pursue snatching victim.
He has not yet been charged with responsibility for the actual theft of the victim’s purse.
