A Grand Jury indicted Joyner Scott Sked and Rudy Fegurgur Quinata of Murder as a First Degree Felony and Aggravated Assault as a Second Degree Felony.
The charges against Sked also included a Special Allegation of the Use of a
Deadly Weapon in the Commission of Felony.
The pair are accused of recklessly causing the death of Daniel Quinata Sanchez earlier this month. The former mayor was found lifeless in Quinata’s home after police officers were called upon to do a welfare check.
A Grand Jury is made up of 16-23 members of the community who hear evidence and decide whether there is reasonable cause to believe that an accused has committed a crime.
At least 12 Grand Jury members must agree that reasonable cause exists in order to return a True Bill.
Prosecuting Attorney Brendlynn Joseph presented on behalf of The People at Grand Jury proceedings today.
