Junior Police Cadet Program holds graduation

The Junior Police Cadet Program is a five-week pilot program that was created in collaboration with the Guam Police Department and the Department of Youth Affairs as a way of teaching leadership skills and anti-bullying advocacy through a curriculum taught by GPD officers.

With smiles on their faces and their feet tapping in excitement, dozens of all ages filled the Lagu Youth Resource Center in anticipation of being awarded their certificate of graduation from the Guam Police Department’s Junior Police Cadet Program.

The Junior Police Cadet Program is a five-week pilot program that was created in collaboration with the Guam Police Department and the Department of Youth Affairs as a way of teaching leadership skills and anti-bullying advocacy through a curriculum taught by GPD officers.

According to GPD spokesman Sergeant Paul Tapao, this year’s program, which consisted of 144 students from the northern, central, and southern areas of the island, was a success in empowering them to grow into admirable citizens of our society.
