Guam – Billboards picturing Guam Supreme Court Justice Robert Torres and his wife Mary Torres have sprung up at various locations around the island, prompting some to speculate that the Judge, or his wife, maybe contemplating a run for public office.
PNC News sent an email inquiry to the Judiciary asking Justice Torres: “Do you intend to resign from the Judiciary to run for public office next year?”
In response, Justice Torres explained that the billboards are merely a personal “holiday greetings and best wishes to the people of Guam.”
He also declared that he is “not a candidate for a non-judicial elective office” and he said he has “every intention to serve in the judiciary for many years to come. Happy Holidays!”
We have posed the same question to Justice Torres’ wife Mary Torres, the former General Manager of at the airport and the Port of Guam. We have not yet received a response from her.

In response to media inquiries regarding the personal billboards with a photo and holiday greetings from me and my wife Mary, I issue the following statement :
“This holiday season, Mary and I will celebrate the holidays and our wedding anniversary with all of our children and grandchildren on island. This is a joyous time for our family and we wanted to personally extend holiday greetings and best wishes to the people of Guam. I am not a candidate for a non-judicial elective office and have every intention to serve in the judiciary for many years to come. Happy Holidays!”
