Korean dentist violates release conditions, tampers with home monitoring device

Guam -The Korean dentist who wen on a drunken tirade aboard a flight bound for Guam, may have tampered his way back to prison.  Kwon Woo Sung, has been on pre-trial release pending appeal, as part of his release conditions he was placed on house arrest and location monitoring.

On January 19, a visit of Sung’s residence revealed that the home monitoring unit had been tampered with. The device was originally placed in the living room of the home but US Probation officers discovered the unit outside of the residence in the carport.  Court documents state that Sung told authorities that he moved the unit in order to increase the range so he could smoke farther from his residence.

A second violation was reported three days later, when an alert indicated that Sung had left his residence at 3:41 pm. According to his release conditions Sung is only allowed to leave his residence for exercise between 4 pm and 6 pm daily.

It is now up to the federal court to determine if his bail should be revoked or modified.
