Guam – Winter training camps for professional Korean baseball and soccer teams have continued to be a mainstay at LeoPalace Resort, which attracted more than 150 athletes and visitors from early January through this month from the country.
The Samsung Baseball Team, which brought 75 people for their stay from Jan. 8 to Feb. 10, marked its seventh time on the island while the Incheon United Football Club, which trained at LeoPalace Resort from Jan. 17 to Feb. 1, brought 35 people on its third trip.
“LeoPalace not only has the facilities to accommodate these teams, but they’ve worked aggressively with our GVB Korea representatives to generate interest for their facility,” said GVB General Manager Gerald S.A. Perez. “They are really one of the shining examples of how niche marketing can propel
Guam in the international arena.”
The Incheon United team’s entourage included head coach Jung-Moo Huh, who served as the Korean National Team Coach during the World Cup.
The 55-member delegation that arrived with the Suwon Samsung Bluewings Football Club from Jan. 10 to Jan. 31 marks its first trip to Guam, along with the 36-member delegation with the Ulsan Hyundai Football Team that stayed from Jan. 2 to Jan. 20.
Along with the weather, all teams have received support from GVB Korea for their stays including assistance in the immigration process, and bottled water valued at $1,000 thanks to the GVB Sports Program Committee.
