This year the Pay-Less Kick the Fat 5K went “green” as event organizers worked closely with iRecycle to provide recycling stations at the community fair and signage along the course to educate runners on how to keep our island sustainable. Detailed below are some statistics on what this effort achieved:
• 22 bags of biodegradables (shredded and used as mulch)
• 60 gallons of food waste
• 18 bags of plastics and 2 bags of steel cans (delivered to Pyramid Recycling)
• 3 bags of aluminum cans (delivered to Simon Sanchez High School Recycling Container)
• 1 roll-off of cardboard (picked up by Mr. Rubbishman)
