Lady Diamonds Secure 1st Place; Head To Playoffs

Manenggon, Guam – The Bud Light Women’s Fast-Pitch League battled it out Sunday at Leo Palace Resort with two games.  In the first game the Lady Diamonds continued their dominace with a 12-3 win over Baby Bottomed Out.  In the night game the Tough Chicks rallied late to take a 15-7 win over Bottomed Out.

In the Sunday opener the Baby Bottoms kept the game close trailing only 3-2 in the 3rd inning when the Lady Diamonds offense would come to life with 3 runs to take a 6-3 lead.  The Lady Diamonds would end the game in the 5th inning scoring four more runs for a 12-3 mercy rule win in five innings.

Lady Diamond’s Jasmine Balajadia was 2 for 3 with a long triple and 2 rbi to pick up Strike Zone Player of the Game.  Tamisha Fejeran and Sam Quinata added inside the park homeruns for the Diamonds and starting pitcher Meagan Maratita allowed only two hits with seven strikeouts in five innings to earn the win.

The Lady Diamonds improve to 4-1 with their fourth straight win and lock up the #1 seed for the playoffs.   Baby Bottomed Out fall to 1-5 and will have the #4 seed for the playoffs.

Tough Chicks 15 Bottomed Out 7

In the Sunday night game the Tough Chicks used an eight run 3rd inning and six run 6th inning to pull away from Bottomed Out for a 15-7 win.

Bottomed Out would score four runs in the top of the 3rd sparked by Tiara Santos inside the park homerun to take a 5-1 lead.   Tough Chicks would answer in the bottom of the 3rd scoring eight runs on six hits including rbi doubles by Kristen Uson and Danielle Preuc to take a 9-5 lead.

Tough Chicks would pull away and stellar defense by catcher Meilani Quintanilla and solid pitching by starter Danielle Preuc would shut down Bottomed Out over the last three innings as the Tough Chicks would hold on for the 15-7 win.

Meilani Quintanilla picks up Strike Zone Player of the Game for her defense and stick going 2 for 3 with a homerun, three runs and two rbi.  The Tough Chicks improve to 4-2 and hold the 2nd seed for the playoffs.  Tiara Santos was 3 for 3 with a triple, homerun and three runs in the loss as Bottomed Out falls to 2-3 and locks up the #3 seed for the playoffs.
