Guam – A large grass fire cut power to residents on cross-island road for an hour.

The fire was initially reported at 9 a.m. and burned over 100 acres of land. GFD units, Department of Agricultures Forestry Divisions, Navy Fire and HSC 25 are all responding to the fire, which is still burning as of news time. The grass fire was clearly visible from the Windward Hills Golf Course where large hillsides were charred from the growing fire. Crackling from burning grass and forest could be heard from miles away. GFD spokesperson Kevin Reilly says that the fire threatens no homes. GPA spokesperson Art Perez said that GPA had to cut off power to homes as a result of the fire but it was restored within the hour. This is the second major grass fire along Cross Island Road of least 100 acres or more in just a couple months.
