Guam – Lawmakers gathered for session today and senator Dennis Rodriguez Jr’s Bill 277 was one of the bills discussed. The bill would direct the Guam Economic Development Authority to gauge interest in a public-private partnership between the Guam Memorial Hospital and a private contractor.
Rodriuguez explained to colleagues that the information from the RFI would influence any potential request for proposal for a public private partnership. Senator Mike San Nicolas voiced his strong opposition to senator Rodriguez’s plan, saying tailoring an RFP around information received from an RFI could lead to conflicts of interest. Meanwhile, earlier this morning, bills 253 and 264 were discussed. Senator Tom Ada’s bill 253 would appropriate carryover funds from FY 14 and 15 from the Department of Public Works to go towards maintenance of Guam’s school buses. Senator Tommy Morrison’s Bill 264 would organize a task force for the southern development master plan. Bill 253 was moved to the third reading file.
