After the veto override vote failed, lawmakers went on to pass 12 of the bills they debated this past week.
Among the measures passed were two bills from Sen. Jose “Pedo” Terlaje that allow for the creation of an inmate commissary at the island’s prison and another bill that creates a civilian corrections reserve at the DOC.
Senator Therese Terlaje’s bill appropriating $10 million to GMH also passed. The funds will help cover the cost of repairing the roof and make a downpayment on the electronic health record system needed by the hospital.
Two worker-compensation bills introduced by Sen. Regine Biscoe Lee also won approval. One of the measures provides for the first increase in compensation rates in 30 years. The other seeks to make the arbitration process in worker compensation cases fairer.
And Senator Mary Torres’ revenge pornography bill also passed without objection.
It allows victims of non-consensual pornography to recover up to $10,000 in damages from anyone who posts their intimate pictures on social media.
