At the legislature, senators recognized CHamoru musical icon Patrick Palomo for his successful career and contribution to Guam arts and humanities.

Senators presented the resolution to Palomo recently via a virtual presentation and many of the island’s local artists showed up in support of the local icon.

Sen. Clynt Ridgell said: “This is to recognize Patrick Palomo for his selfless contributions to the humanities of Guam as a prominent CHamoru jazz pianist and recording artist.”

Palomo, who is battling prostate cancer and awaiting treatment, also spoke at the virtual presentation.

“Thank you so much … I just wished I could acknowledge everybody,” Palomo said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help raise funds for Palomo’s medical treatment. Businessman Kaz Endo organized the fundraiser.

Endo said in an earlier interview that although they have hit their initial goal, they will keep the fundraising open just in case Palomo’s treatment goes longer than expected.
