Legislature presents $430K check to GDOE

The funding will go towards repairs of several dilapidated campuses.

Guam – It appears the Guam Legislature has identified the necessary funding that the Guam Department of Education has been requesting for all summer.

Today, Senator Joe San Agustin presented a check of $430K to the education department for much-needed repairs.

After requesting for emergency funds in May, the legislature has finally identified the funding to repair several of DOE’s dilapidated campuses. During the check presentation, the Democrat lawmaker said he tried to move the process along as hastily as possible.

“Speaker Cruz was the one that signed the check yesterday,” recalled San Agustin. He added, “I got notified yesterday so, I contacted the superintendent and said ‘let’s do this check tomorrow. Let’s get this done tomorrow. Let’s get this done as fast as possible because I want to get it done.”

San Agustin said $150K is already being processed now for a total disbursement of $580K to the Guam Education Department.
