Guam – Proceeds from this year’s Liberation Carnival are already being awarded to the Mayors’ Council of Guam and the Rigalu Foundation.
Mayors’ Council Executive Director Angel Sablan today presented a $100,000 check to the MCOG from the Liberation Planning Committee. Another $100,000 has already been sent to first lady Christine Calvo for the Rigalu Foundation.
Based on the vendor fees already collected Sablan says the Liberation Planning Committee is confident they will make more than the $200,000 already distributed.
Council President Mayor Paul Mcdonald says the money was awarded early this year so that each village can receive $5,000 from the Mayors’ Council’s portion to use as development funds.
“We encourage everybody to use these funds to help finance whatever program you have in your community,” McDonald told fellow mayors. “You and your Municipal Planning Council will decide what do.”
Any funds earned beyond the $200,000 already distributed will be evenly divided between the Mayors’ Council and the Rigalu Foundation after the liberation carnival is over.
