A local entertainment company is lending out its services to help local non-profits raise funds.

When you think of AltrXego Entertainment, you think clubs, bright neon lights, and of course, music.

However, this group of DJs shows they are so much more than just the party scene.

Inspired by others doing charity work during the pandemic, owner Benjamin Schiff says for the past 3 months, AltrXego joined in and had been helping different non-profit organizations raise money, with 100% of the proceeds going to the individual non-profits through their Virtual Dance party collaborations.

“Well, obviously, the pandemic did hit and it caused a lot of small businesses to close and our DJs, they lost a lot of gigs and everything. But we weren’t focusing on what we lost, we always like to look at solutions to our problems and that’s why we’re called AltrXego, because we like to alter the way we focus on the problems we face,” Schiff said.

Doing entertainment on Guam for over 3 years, they had to shut down for the first lockdown due to safety measures, especially on the restrictions on social gatherings  but they were still able to obtain financial stability through their $199 yearly membership program despite the trying times.

“So basically, all the local businesses that we’ve been advertising for free have actually returned the favor to AltrXego Entertainment and helped us stay alive during the pandemic and that’s how we’ve been able to generate funds to keep on going,” Schiff said.

He added: “We did start a membership card, it’s called the AltrXego members-only card. That’s another way we’ve been able to stay afloat. What it does is that it gives you discounts to all those local businesses around Guam. So these local businesses saw what we are doing for non-profits and decided to help us out, so they all give a discount if you buy our membership card.”

The virtual dance party of the group is targeting a new non-profit every month, raising money for the organization and donating 100% of time and DJ talent to raise money for non-profits who may be having a hard time generating funds due to the pandemic.

So far, AltrXego has been able to generate over $3,600 for different non-profits. Their group of DJs all teamed up and decided that a lot of non-profits aren’t generating money that they’re used to so once a month, they do this for them.

Currently, the membership program now has a total of 22 local businesses involved.

They are still offering free advertisement for offering incentives for people to shop locally and keep money on our island longer.
