Local Man Awaiting Extradition to Texas For Sexual Assault Charges


A local man is awaiting extradition to Texas to answer sexual assault charges.

Devin Tainatongo is charged in Texas for sexually assaulting a victim under the age of 14.

According to the Office of the Attorney General – a warrant of arrest was issued by the Governor of Texas against Tainatongo in mid-June.

The warrant came after the Governor received reports that Tainatongo allegedly – inappropriately touched the victim when she was five or six years old.

Texas authorities were made aware that Tainatongo had moved to Guam.

According to the OAG – Texas Authorities worked with Guam authorities to confirm Tainatongo’s location before executing the warrant.

Tainatongo appeared before the Superior Court of Guam for a continued extradition hearing – according to the AG – based on the presentation by Assistant Deputy Attorney General – David Rivera – the court remanded Tainatongo into custody at the Department of Corrections until he is extradited.

Texas will assume the costs associated with the transport and security precautions related to getting Tainatongo back to his jurisdiction.
