Guam – The Autism Community Together (ACT), a local support group which helps both people diagnosed on the autism spectrum and their family members, is inviting the public to various events throughout April to encourage the awareness, acceptance, and understanding of what it is like to live with autism.
These events include: a Walk/Wheel/Run 2K/5K at the Chamorro Village on March 30, a thanksgiving mass at the Cathedral on the 31st, an autism awareness fair at the Agana Shopping Center on April 6, and many others.
Josephine Blas, the president of the ACT and a mother of a child with autism, said that these events are meant to connect people who have been influenced by the condition.
“It’s who we are. We’re here,” Blas said. “We’re parents and family members of children with autism and we just want to help and support each other because that’s what matters most.”
