Long-Range Strike Bomber Contract Awarded to Northrop Grumman

Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo says she’s pleased with the decision to award the contract.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo, Co-Chair of the Congressional Long Range Strike Caucus and Congressional Air Force Caucus, today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Air Force’s award for the Long-Range Strike Bomber contract.  The Air Force announced the contract award of engineering and manufacturing development and early production for the Long Range Strike Bomber, or LRS-B, to Northrop Grumman Corp.

“The Long Range Strike Bomber program is critical to our national security and it provides our military with the ability to deter aggression and swiftly respond to contingencies around the world.  As the co-chair of the Congressional Long Range Strike and Air Force caucuses, I recognize the need to make investments to maintain and modernize this important force projection capability.  This contact award is an important milestone for the LRS-B program and is needed to protect and defend our ability to deter conflict or respond to challenges around the world at a moment’s notice.  I congratulate the Air Force on making this award and taking steps to carefully craft a smart and forward-looking acquisition strategy.  I look forward to working with the DoD and my colleagues in Congress to continue our investment in this critical capability and to move the program forward.”
