With Lunar New Year just around the corner, award-winning restaurant Taste will be offering a limited-time Chinese lunch buffet. The buffet is set to run until February 5.
Every Thursday through Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm, Executive Chef Karl Lee will be transforming the restaurant into a Chinese food adventure.
“Chinese New Year,” said Sheena Tiamzon-Bocatija, Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing for the Westin Resort Guam, “or Lunar New Year, is on February 1st. So, in celebration, we decided to do a Chinese lunch buffet.”
Taste often provides new culinary experiences throughout the year. “We’ve done Korean buffet, Filipino buffet,” said Tiamzon-Bocatija. “We’ve also done a Vietnamese buffet, so we’re always definitely looking for opportunities to introduce new cuisine to Taste and to Guam.”
Entrées and Desserts
For this Lunar New Year, the buffet offers a roasted Peking duck station, Chinese entrée favorites, a sampling of street food, and homemade dim sum, among other things.
Not only does Taste serve their regular desserts but they also offer Asian-themed desserts inspired by the holiday. They include sesame balls, mango pudding, coconut tapioca pudding–and many others!
Chinese cuisine is one of the oldest and most diverse cuisines in the world, likely due to their access to different spices pre-Age of Exploration. The taste base of many Chinese dishes involve garlic, ginger, five-spice powder and roasted sesame oil, made from white sesame seeds. Flour pepper is typical for Chinese cuisine, as well as pork which traditionally was the main meat ingredient for many popular dishes.
According to Tiamzon-Bocatija, the Lunar New Year Chinese buffet may be extended past February 5 if demand is high.
The Chinese lunch buffet is $40 per adult and $20 for children aged 6 to 11 years old. Club Marriott & Marriott Bonvoy discounts do apply.
