Maimai Marlins Get Past C-Menz, Sta. Rita Braves Best Kosrae Masters


Hagatna, Guam – A doubleheader at Paseo in the Guam Budweiser Masters Baseball League (GBMBL). In the first game, the Maimai Marlins just edged out C-Men’z, 8-7. 

With C-Men’z in the lead 7-5 in the middle of the 5th, the Marlins got the offense going scoring three runs in the bottom of the 5th. Isaac Cruz coming through with the two-RBI single to give the Marlins the lead 8-7. 

Cruz also helping out on the mound, coming in to stop the C-Men’z offense in the top of the 6th to get the win. Mike Alvarez took the loss. Cruz was 2-4, 2RBI, and a run. Albert Padua was 2-3, an RBI, and a run. Martin Ogo was 2-2, 2RBI, and a run. Peter Brennan was 1-2, with an RBI. For C-Men’z, Ken Quintinilla was 3-3, and an RBI. George Pecina went 2-4, an RBI, and a run. Melan Borja was 2-2, with a run. Ed Mendiola was 2-3, an RBI, and a run. 

Tony Lizama was 2-4, and two runs.

In the nightcap, the Santa Rita Braves defeated the Kosrae Masters on the 10-Run Rule in the bottom of the 6th, 14-4. The Kosrae Masters were leading 3-0 after three complete, but the Braves then scored five in the bottom of the 4th, two more in the bottom of the 5th, and seven more in the bottom of the 6th for the win. 
Pete Salas picked up the win, while James George suffered the loss. For the Kosrae Masters, Herman Paul was 2-2, a double, and a run. James George went 1-2, with an RBI, and Cameron Daniel was 2-3. For the Braves, Shon Muna was 3-5, 4RBI, and a run. John Carbullido went 2-4, with a run. Joe Quintinilla was 2-3, and two runs. Tony Yatar was 2-4, with three runs.
