32-year-old man charged for assaulting Guam police officer, damaging cars with machete

On Saturday, July 18, Guam Police Department officers assigned to the Dededo Precinct Command responded to a disturbance call on Trankilo Court in Dededo.

Preliminary police reports suggest that 32-year-old Joseph Joaquin Palomo had damaged cars with a machete. When officers arrived, they located Palomo and police say he was belligerent and combative towards the officers.

During the course of interaction between Palomo and the officers, GPD said Palomo assaulted an officer, In response, officers utilized a Taser “to gain control of Mr. Palomo.”

Joseph Palomo was later arrested for the following offenses:
– Assault on a Peace Officer
– Resisting Arrest
– Disorderly Conduct
– And Criminal Mischief

He was later booked and confined at the Department of Corrections. This case has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution.
