A 46-year-old man has been arrested and charged for the death of a cyclist, who was involved in a traffic crash on Rt. 16 in Barrigada, according to the Guam Police Department.
On May 11, Shawn Camacho Damian of Barrigada Heights was located and is now behind bars at the Guam Department of Corrections.
As the Pacific News Center previously reported, units from GPD responded in mid-February to a crash on Rt. 16 in Barrigada involving a vehicle and a bicycle, with one “non-fatal injury” identified and transported to Guam Regional Medical City.
GPD’s Highway Patrol Section was activated and assumed control of the investigation on Feb. 15.
On March 5, investigators with GPD’s Highway Patrol Division were informed that 42-year-old Jeffry Ignacio of Yona succumbed to his injuries as a result of the crash.
Damian was arrested for vehicular homicide, imprudent driving, and insufficient clearance.
He was processed, booked, and confined to DepCor.
The case was closed and forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General of Guam.
